Daniel Mumbere is the founder and team leader of Uganda’s first dedicated fact-checking website, http://www.ugandafact.org. He is also the Communications Officer at Rocket Health, a leading telemedicine provider in the East African region.

Daniel, who describes himself as a digital storyteller honed his craft in television and digital newsrooms in Uganda and across the African continent. A graduate of Business Administration at Makerere University Business School, Daniel joined Urban Television as a television presenter after emerging as one of the top 10 exciting new talents in the country.

He went on to create, produce and present the first-ever social media television show, and lead the channel’s first WhatsApp newsroom. In 2017, Daniel joined Africanews, a bilingual, pan-African news channel as a digital journalist. Based in Congo Brazzaville, Daniel covered some of the continent’s biggest stories including elections in South Africa, Benin’s best-kept travel secrets, and running commentary on Africa’s first ladies among others.

Daniel was named among the newsroom’s top 3 writers across the African, European, and Middle East markets. Daniel has since rekindled his business qualifications, crafting and leading digital and mainstream communications for Victoria University and Rocket Health respectively. As a veteran digital journalist in Uganda, Daniel has dedicated his talents and experience to solving one of today’s biggest challenges globally; misinformation.
