Bio

Brenda Nakalema isn’t your average Jane (no offense to Jane). She’s a jack-of-all-trades who’s dabbled in the world of accounting, run her own business, and even tried her hand at tightrope walking (just kidding about the last one). But it’s the written word that truly stole her heart. As a writer, copywriter, and poet, Brenda believes that storytelling has the power to untangle the prejudice and misconceptions that plague modern society. Her ultimate goal? To create positive change through her writing.
In a world that’s more fractured and divided than a Jenga tower, Brenda knows that stories can be the glue that brings us all back together. And she’s got the receipts to prove it. As a copywriter at TBWAUganda, Brenda has worked her magic on some of the biggest brands in the country, from MTN to UNICEF, Nile Special to KFC (and that’s just scratching the surface). She’s also a prolific freelance writer, with bylines in online magazines like sheleadsafrica.org and her own personal blog, africansonthemoon.wordpress.com.
She is a firm believer in giving back to her community which is why she volunteers with 40 days over 40 Smiles, where she puts her skills to work in the communications department.
When she’s not busy penning masterpieces, Brenda can be found lost in the pages of a good book. Her personal library boasts an impressive collection of psychology tomes, classic fiction, and business literature (because who said you can’t mix business with pleasure?). And when she’s not nose-deep in a book, she’s out biking, working up a sweat, or perfecting her amapiano dance moves.
