Matanda Abubaker, an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda, currently serves as a Magistrate Grade 1 in the Judiciary. Prior to this role, he held positions as the Guild President at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) and later as the President of the Uganda National Students Association (UNSA).

Aside from his judicial duties, Matanda also teaches law at the Islamic University in Uganda, is passionate about and contributes writings on Constitutionalism, rule of law, society, and philosophy, and cherishes his roles as a husband to Mrs. Sumaya Namukose and a father to two boys, Aadil Sankara and Zayn Che Guevara Matanda.

Matanda’s educational background includes a Masters degree in Oil and Gas Law from Uganda Christian University, a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the Islamic University in Uganda. He pursued his secondary education at Kibuli Secondary School for A level, Mbogo Mixed SS for O level, and received his primary education at Mbale Tower P/S.
