Bio

Mrs. Irene Esther Mutuzo Sevume perceives herself as a multifaceted individual aspiring to make an impact in Uganda and Africa’s ICT, education, and poetry spheres.

In the digital space, she serves as the Vice Chair of the Interoperable Learner Records Workgroup of the IEEE Standards Association’s Learning Technology Standards Committee. She is also the Head of Business Growth and PR at Diwala – a digital credentialing platform leveraging Self Sovereign Identity (SSI) standards.

Deeply enthusiastic about the education sector, She is also an assistant Lecturer at Makerere University.

She is also an ardent poet and spoken word artist who was awarded the Best Spoken Word Act Award under the Vine Entertainment Awards 2020 and has created content for various brands, including the International Trade Centre, Stanbic Bank, Water Aid – Uganda, Reach a Hand Uganda, the Uganda Communications Commission, among others.

Passionate about growing the art and entertainment industry in Uganda and Africa, she serves as a board member of the Lantern Meet Foundation, – a social enterprise striving to enrich reading, writing, and performance culture through an initiative known as the Ibua Initiative.

Irene?s long term vision is to pursue a doctorate with a specific focus on the Usability Context Factors that Influence the Adoption of Digital Technologies in Uganda, through which she hopes to gain knowledge as a Digital Usability Context Expert to support the development of digital policies and provide guidance to Ugandan and African governments and institutions on how to optimally integrate digital technologies in their operations. In the arts sphere, she aspires to continue using her craft of poetry and spoken word to shed light on pertinent issues affecting our society.
